Ommwriter windows11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() Used mainly by Apple fans who claim it to be better and more user-friendly. The younger and poorer equivalent of MS Office. I’m very surprised that this company fails to evolve and follow the footsteps of their competitors who are making a killing with their simple software. Especially when you compare it to some of the software I list below. Most of you are familiar with Microsoft Office, so there’s no point explaining it, but one thing must be said: this software has a seriously bad vibe. You don’t know which one to pick, so you go for the cheapest one only to find out that my beloved Picture Manager app, the only good piece of software Microsoft developed in years, is not included in the package. Buying their Office software is a very complicated process because they offer a whole bunch of different packages. Maybe I’m being sentimental? I’m kind of tempted to sell my Pro at half price and purchase a new Air.Īlright, time for the Review of Writing Apps Office 365 ![]() Though I can’t explain it, for some reason the Macbook Air seems to give out a better vibe. ![]() ![]() Last spring, I didn’t even turn on my PC for weeks on end because I prefered to connect my Mac to a large monitor. Actually, some of them don’t even have their equivalent on Windows. Not only does it have a certain vibe to it, but it’s got a lot of apps which for some reasons you can’t get on Windows. I’m saying ‘unfortunately’ because I’m aware not everybody can afford to buy one. I know my way around all common computers and operating systems, and, unfortunately, I have to say that MacBooks are the best piece of hardware created for writing. The right hardware and software is the foundation of any good writing. But why go through that if there’s dedicated writing apps on the market? Windows or OS X? I mean, you can write in the most basic notebook app, sure. The only other thing we need now is good software. These problems are long gone thanks to PCs and laptops. Every mistake I made meant I had to type out the entire page again or use correction fluid. Kind of a weird decision on my part, because I could have just asked a friend to print it out for me, but I was determined to pretend I was a real writer. I had decided to participate in a short story competition but I didn’t have a printer in my home. I also experienced a short-lived romance with a typewriter. I also vaguely remember “writing” a novel in a drawing pad. Obviously, they didn’t even look like screenplays, because I was a teen and had no idea what I was doing. Before that, I wrote two screenplays in my maths notebook. My first three books were created within the pages of such notebooks. What to write in? I started off with A4 notebooks. Let’s talk about technical matters first. So I decided to help them a little, because I know how to do it on my own and I know how to do it with a publishing house. And if they do, then they definitely don’t know how to talk to publishers. But they don’t know how to write it and what to do with the manuscript. Then again, there’s a growing number of people who dream of publishing a book. There’s a lot of bloggers who are not tech savvy enough to take care of all word processing matters. So, if you’re trying to avoid spoilers, you may want to wait until the animated series finishes its run. If you’ve been following the series, the comic has a different chronology. That being said, I loved it – and the biggest surprise to me is how the animated series (so far) is making some major improvements to the comic in terms of a streamlined story and inclusivity. I’m a nascent comic reader, so I can’t say how this compares to other comics. Introducing the first nine volumes of the greatest superhero comic. The collection contains INVINCIBLE comic issues #0-47 (trade paperback volumes 1 through 9) and is one of three compendiums. (W) Robert Kirkman (A) Cory Walker (A/CA) Ryan Ottley. Buy your books here. Use code: filmyfool and get an exclusive discount.I get way too into fictional universes. It truly is a privilege to have had the opportunity to read the iconic comic that will no doubt go down in history as one of the greatest ever. Kudos to Robert Kirkman for such fantastic writing. As a reader, it made me question the set image I have of female superheroes and how that has been created over years of exposure to comics and films. It challenges so many stereotypes against women, not just across the entire superhero fraternity but also in the real world. I actually flinched a couple of times as I read through some of the more intense and graphic fights.Ī totally unexpected and delightful aspect of Invincible compendium 2 will always be the depiction of Atom Eve in the latter half. Even though this is a static medium, Ryan Otley and Cory Walker infuse so much life into every panel and use the blood spatter effect masterfully. What adds to this is the way violence is crafted in Invincible. If you read through a few issues, it would be natural to want to take a breather. The panels depicting action sequences are breathtaking and the double spreads are simply jaw dropping. I loved getting to know this character a bit more and look forward to some more pieces of his backstory in the final collection.Īs with Compendium 1, every issue in Compendium 2 is crafted to perfection. Add to this, Cecil’s backstory which was the cornerstone for the entire Yin and Yang conversation was extremely well timed. It is beautiful to read how a character changes his stance when his point of view shifts. I don’t think I will come across a better piece of narrative where characters move across Yin and Yang so effortlessly. The biggest highlight for me from Invincible Compendium 2 is how it handles shades of grey. It was always a part of what Invincible was all about. However, in the first set of issues, humour was so naturally integrated in the narrative that it never felt unnecessary. I get that the story has moved on from high-school and stakes are at an all time high and humour could seem forced. Additionally, I felt that the humour quotient was considerably less in this one. I wish there were another couple of strong support arcs but no other stayed with me like this one. It was complex and extremely well written. What I loved in this edition was the support story arc of Robot and Monster Girl. The tropes are not as fresh, and it starts feel repetitive at times, but Invincible Compendium 2 hits it out of the park often enough to earn the necessary accolades. Mark once again deals with aliens, and romance, and aliens and his father, aliens and family and on it goes. Mark Grayson aka Invincible has been through a lot. ![]() I have had the most amazing time reading this and can safely say that Invincible Compendium 2 is almost as good as the first - A reaction I thought impossible ( I wrote about the Invincible storyline, collected editions and part 1 reaction in my review of Compendium 1) That was my reaction as I turned the last page on the 2nd part of this incredible collection. ![]() Spamsieve not working quotpower nap11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s important to stay mindful of how you respond to naps. However, other research in the US found that napping up to 90 minutes also boosts brainpower with the immediate reward being that the brain’s temporary storage space clears out to make way for new information to absorb. One study measuring the most effective duration of a nap found that 10 minutes was the ideal time for a power nap. When looking at memory performance, power naps also had a positive impact. Research looking at the benefits of power napping on cognitive decline showed that naps improved cognitive performance for a longer period, and increased alertness. Do power naps work? Immediate and long-term benefits After 20 or so minutes the caffeine will have kicked in, helping you wake up from your power nap refreshed and alert. Known as the stimulant nap or coffee and caffeine nap, the idea is to have a cup of coffee just before going for your nap. Pairing your power nap with a cup of coffee may sound counterintuitive, but the idea has merit. This longer daytime nap will then have a similar positive impact as the power nap. It’s then no longer considered a power nap, but you’ll have gone through all stages of sleep and most likely will wake up in a light sleep phase. If you intend to nap for longer than 30 minutes, it’s almost better to go for a longer sleep (up to 90 minutes). During a power nap, the sleeper intentionally terminates sleep before 30 minutes to avoid entering deep sleep, which could result in a groggy feeling and, in the worst case, last the rest of the afternoon – not the intended effect! How long should a power nap be? The term power nap was coined by Cornell University social psychologist James Mass. Rock wharf luminous lagoon11/29/2023 ![]() The luminous blue colour was quite spectacular. For me it was one of those once in a lifetime experiences. The water was warm and the glow around us when we were treading water was amazing. When we got on the boat we were taken out into the middle of the lake and had around 30 minute swim time. There are a few market stalls selling all the usual souvenirs, we did get some decent deals but did spend a fair bit. Waited around an hour for our boat in which time there was no fire show or anything as advertised. We were on the 2nd lot of boats going out, it was very busy. When done swimming, you get back on the boat and they swing it in a large crescent for a sweeping trail of blue light, which would be your best picture opportunity as the light is otherwise pretty dim. Apparently there are small jellyfish which can sting you-my wife and I did not get stung but a couple of other tourists did, although they said it just felt like a momentary pinprick. The lake is not deep but at 5'8" I did not feel like I could just stand up, so I would recommend wearing a provided life vest if you're worried about your swimming. You get a free small rum punch or fruit punch and then hop on a boat for a few minutes into the middle of the lake, where you can swim around and marvel at the electric blue dinoflagellates which make you feel like you're in the movie Avatar.
